New to the classic motor scene?

Many owners have been bringing their vehicles along to our shows for many years and competition can be fierce to win our coveted Masterclass award at Knebworth Park in August. However we would like to point out that all classic motors of any size shape or description are welcome to join us.

So here is our beginners guide to Greenwood Exhibitions Classic Motor Shows
  • We book a venue, usually a great location with great views and other attractions, then organise passes for qualifying vehicles and organise all Health & Safety requirements, toilets, rubbish skips etc.
  • Ideally show vehicles turn up early and our staff park vehicles by category around an arena, most venues the latest time of entry is 11.00 am with exhibitor passes. These passes enable you and a passenger and up to 2 children FREE ENTRY into the show.
  • Judges will be looking at all vehicles that are in the show area and parked in the category class – (some shows only judge cars that are bought into the arena?)

Your vehicle does not have to be concours to enter and be part of the show – we appreciate that some people have show vehicles other have vehicles they just love to drive!

NEW FOR 2012 WE HAVE A DAILY DRIVER AWARD – tell us how many miles you use the vehicle, the sort of trips you do and how many miles you have driven to be at the show

Please Note: No awards are presented at the Father’s Classic Day out – 17th June Woburn Abbey

  • Award winning vehicles are then invited to join us in the arena and have a chat with our commentator about their vehicle. The questions will not be intimidating, just general ones such as: How long have you owned the car, motorcycle, camper etc? What attracted you to this model? History of the car etc.
  • Awards are presented at around 4pm in the main arena – we take pride in our awards selection and are looking to commission new and 'exclusive' awards for the 2012 season.
  • All exhibitors receive a show plaque and are entered into a draw to win a place on the London to Brighton Classic Car Run. These are handed out at the organisers marquee at around 4pm when the draw also takes place (you must still be in attendance at the show to qualify and collect this in person)
  • Show closes at around 4.30pm
Forgot to mention that we normally have lots of things for you to see at the show, including trade stands, autojumble, attractions for the children and of course any of the venue attractions that we have included in your exhibitor pass.

When we have a 2 day show judging takes place on the second day- Day 1 is our club day where we invite clubs to bring a selection of vehicles in the arena and chat to our commentator. We actively encourage clubs to join us and welcome any clubs that would like to hold a national gathering alongside any of our events. NEW for 2012! We have introduced a cash prize for the ‘Best Club Display’ and will introduce a theme for 2012 to encourage clubs to be an active part of our show!

We do have a few rules and regulations when exhibiting and joining us on the show arena. Please ensure you read these before applying for any exhibitor passes.

We look forward to seeing you in 2012

Concours

Concours is a French word meaning “competition”. Concours d’Elegance is sometimes translated as a “Gathering of the Elegant”. A concours judging process provides a systematic and fair way to evaluate cars using a point system. We use a maximum score of 100 in our concours-judging process. You may have heard owners speak of a 95-point or the rare 100-point car, meaning one that has scored exceptionally well on the 100-point scale.

The purpose of a concours is to promote the preservation of the vehicle in its original state. The primary focus of judging is on originality, craftsmanship, authenticity and condition with secondary emphasis on cosmetics. Over-restoration, extravagant paint and extra plating detract from originality. Cars are not expected to be perfect. Some minor road dust and wear is to be expected, particularly for cars that were driven to shows at distant locations.

Judges are instructed to use the following percentages when determining how to deduct points up to the maximum deduction. Look at the item in question and consider AUTHENTICITY (50%), WORKMANSHIP (35%) and MAINTENANCE (15%).
